Knee pain can happen suddenly (acute) or develop overtime (chronic). Chronic knee pain describes pain that is felt for 12 consecutive weeks or more, which involves constant swelling or sensitivity in one or both knees. An acute knee pain will usually have an identifiable cause as it happens suddenly.
