Eat Before Your Appointment

Have a meal or snack before your session, even if it’s just a banana.

Dry needling on an empty stomach can increase the risk of dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, or fainting.

Avoid Alcohol

Do not consume alcohol before your appointment.

Alcohol can affect your nervous system, circulation, and your body’s response to treatment, increasing the likelihood of adverse reactions.

Hydrate Well

Drink at least 500 mL of water before your session and 1 litre afterwards.

Good hydration helps your muscles respond to treatment and may reduce post-treatment soreness.

Why Is This Important?

Dry needling creates a therapeutic response within the muscle. To achieve the best results and minimise side effects, your body needs adequate hydration, stable blood sugar levels, and a properly functioning nervous system.

Following these guidelines can help reduce the risk of dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, and fainting, while also reducing post-treatment soreness and improving your overall response to treatment.
