Essentially knee pain describes pain that is felt inside and or around the knee that cause discomfort especially when walking upstairs or when bending and straightening the knee. Knee pain can happen suddenly (acute) or develop overtime (chronic). Chronic knee pain describes pain that is felt for 12 consecutive weeks or more, which involves constant swelling or sensitivity in one or both knees. An acute knee pain will usually have an identifiable cause as it happens suddenly.

Regardless of the cause, knee pain can be very debilitating and has the potential to have a negative impact on one’s quality of life due to the fact we do use our legs and knees a lot throughout the day.
